Job Description
Job Title: Wireless Technician Supervisor FLSA Status: Exempt
Department: Wireless Division
Reports To: Wireless Operations Manager

Job Summary: Responsible for supervision of the maintenance and repair of cellular base station equipment, microwave radios, channel banks, power and battery systems and other equipment associated with the wireless network.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise the wireless technical staff, including selection, training, development, performance management, appraisals, and coaching, ensuring that the goals and objectives set by the company are met.
- Responsible to manage the maintenance and repair of cellular base stations, microwave radios, channel banks and DC power systems.
- Responsible to manage the staff and the processes for the following: testing equipment, measuring devices, meters and tools in wiring, repairing, maintaining and testing of the cellular communications system equipment including but not limited to:
a) Cellular/PCS Base Stations - Nortel BTS/800/1900, CDMA & AMPS
b) Wireless DSL applications
c) Microwave radios systems
d) DC power systems
e) DC battery systems
f) Channel banks/multiplexers
g) Digital Access Crossconnects - DACS
h) Cellular phones
- Supervise tower installation and maintenance of antenna systems.
- Recognizing that job safety is a primary objective in all duties, attends and participates in company safety and training meetings and assists in ensuring a safe working environment.
- Drives company vehicles including four-wheel drive vehicles and snow cats.

- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required to fulfill job function or as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of telecommunications technology, materials and equipment.
- Ability to pay close attention to details and schedules; accept responsibility for own activities while working with minimal supervision.
- Ability to maintain complete confidentiality of system financial information, customer data, and other proprietary confidential information.
- Ability to exhibit a pleasant personality, professional appearance and demeanor, tact and diplomacy.
- Knowledge of the standards, rules and regulations governing wireless operations.
- Ability to read, write, comprehend and speak English.
- Ability to communicate and cooperate with operational staff in other wireless companies.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and members of the public on service problems and new projects in a helpful, professional manner.
- Ability to effectively lead staff to accomplish company goals.

Physical Demands
- Sits at desk some of working day.
- Frequently stands and walks short distances in office.
- Handles books, papers, and office equipment.
- Must have visual accuracy to post data in small spaces.
- Stoops and bends when using files.
- May be required to lift and carry weights up to 25 pounds.

- Fully accountable for activities of the department.
- Able to meet and work with employees and the public.
- Willing to train employees in specialized skills as necessary.
- Able to supervise others effectively.
- Considerable judgment required.
- Works under nominal supervision where standard procedures are generally available.
- May require irregular hours.
Experience Required
Education/Experience
Any combination equivalent to the following education and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities would qualify. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:
Minimum three years in a supervisory role in the telecommunications industry with emphasis on project management and technical supervisory roles. Proven ability to manage internal and external operations.
